School is going harsh on me. And *smirk* to think that it was only the first week of it? Loooooong way to go...
The fact that I had a friggin test in AP Bio on the third day of class  doesn't even incur any emotion from me anymore,
since I just spent what I calculated later as goddamn 5 hours of Sunday reading and taking notes on the textbook.
Saturday was no different. I had 3 chapters to read, and each takes like forever to do so.
Good that I was actually thoughtful enough to finish the other minor hw on Friday though; if it weren't for that, I would've died suffering..

Not that I didn't expect an AP course to be much easier. I just didn't realize, substantially, what lied ahead of me.
Oh well. :) At least there's always Muse, LJ fics, and THIS to lighten me up:

oh, how I laughed at this for like a million hours... pure genious.
i even forgot how the whole system worked lol such a long summer...
yet, I don't want it to end !!!!!

Oh well. Life of a student is a continuation of summer and hell (=school.)
sure, i'm excited to see all my friends again but i prefer summer over them HAHAHA just kidding.

Plus, I'm taking the PSAT sophomore year, which.. I admit I am scared for.
I'm always scared of standerized tests- they haunt me. They're evil.
And I just remembered I also have AP tests in May.
Thanks to whoever up there that decided to remind me just now. Great timing dude! =D .... ...-_-

By the way!
I got this really cool new bag for school- it's transparent, CLEAR, SEE-THROUGH!! how cool is that!!
you can see everything that's inside hahahaha I don't care about privacy- it's cool. end of story.

Anyways, bye!! =D

"Voila! In view humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the “vox populi” now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a bygone vexation stands vivified, and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin, van guarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition. The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose, so let me simply add that it’s my very good honour to meet you and you may call me V."

- The "V aliteration speech" from V for Vendetta XD

Yes, I notice how late I saw this movie- but hell, I did see it, right?!

From the beginning to the very end, this film left me simply speechless.
Literally, i was not talking, at all. I was with my twinnie and one other friend, and we were all silent throughout.
Maybe it was the Matrix-like, Wachowski-style action that got me lol!! Truely amazing, those sword fighting scenes.

The plot goes- oh wait.. i should be really careful not to spoil anyone o_o... now, how do i do that.....
ok. here's a short plot summary from www.imdb.com :

Set against the futuristic landscape of totalitarian Britain, V For Vendetta tells the story of a mild-mannered young woman named Evey who is rescued from a life-and-death situation by a masked vigilante known only as "V." Incomparably charismatic and ferociously skilled in the art of combat and deception, V ignites a revolution when he detonates two London landmarks and takes over the government-controlled airwaves, urging his fellow citizens to rise up against tyranny and oppression. As Evey uncovers the truth about V's mysterious background, she also discovers the truth about herself - and emerges as his unlikely ally in the culmination of his plot to bring freedom and justice back to a society fraught with cruelty and corruption.

read more if you've seen the movie already :D and if you've not yet, GO SEE IT. you'll experience a rejuvenation lol.

I just wish i had read the comics before i saw the movie...i'm seriously buying it tomorrowCollapse )

Since my dearest mother has to watch her favorite shows on Tuesdays, coincidentally at 9,
I'm never able to watch House on  FOX, ever!
Therefore I satisfy my house cravings by watching USA on Friday night instead, although this channel rarely shows recent seasons.
I've watched and re-watched season 1 and 2 way too many times lol
But. whaddaya know, there are a LOT of precious H/W scenes in those seasons, which are worth seeing a thousand times over and over again<3

Anyway! I'm currently struggling to get back to the real world and start my AP art summer assingment
which- is a thematic still life.
Yes I like drawing, I love still lifes,
but after being online almost the whole day, it's not that easy to commit myself to a real life activity now.
Oh well. but I have to do it. Don't I.
Especially when the due date is... today. I must email the artwork to the teacher, within this day.
That means before the clock hands point 1:00 in the morning.

Therefore- bye bye, internet!
Parting is such sweet sorrow! (haha yes, quoting Romeo and Juliet.)
That I shall say good night till it be morrow (haha yes, why not the next line too)

Let's get to work! Creating art can indeed be a work sometimes XD

By the way- does everyone know the site www.deviantart.com? it's where there are thousands of hundreds of artists, either students or professional, post up their artworks :D
There are simply TOO many genius people on here, it always helps me feel the need to practice much much more to improve my art.
Here is my account in case anyone's interested: http://jieunfin.deviantart.com/
Just so you know, me and my twinnie sister gumguyshare this account. So.. look at the titles carefully to see what art belongs to whom!

See ya =)

I've refreshed my head and- on to a new topic! yes!

I first tried to do the 'cut link' thing for this post but the shit kept malfunctioning on me. i gave up after several attempts.T-T

Death Note!

Matsuda was the true justice. period. end of story.
That's what I thought after finishing the whole manga series- which i did, by the way, in a deadly silent, dark room with only one stand light, god knows what time after midnight.
Yes, indeed the PERFECT setting to read the last volume of Death Note.
I once believed in Light's actions, a long time ago.
Turely, his original motivations were so much agreeable. and just, you know! EXACTLY what I've been thinking all my life: the world is rotten. Something really needs to be done to stop all that corruption, all that crap about those criminals acting simply out of sick perverted interests.
But from some point on our little teenage boy got more and more preoccupied with himself and just forgot about his cause.
I didn't even realize the change at first! Probably becuase I read the series very emotionally and was swept by Light's own outrageous emotions that I couldn't see straight.
But then I realized he wasn't the same person anymore.
He just turned out to be a maniac murderer whether or not his intention was good or his killings did have some good impact on society.
His tragic flaw, ego, killed him.
I once believed in L, too. I totally agree with his statement that murder is just a murder even if it's that of a bad person, because killing human lives is just- yeah. killing. No one can be justified in killing another.
But there's something about L that makes you doubt... for SOME reason.
Maybe it's his obsession with Light (and i don't mean it 'that' way here). I don't know. He just doesn't seem.. trustworthy, although he is right about everything he guesses. He tricks people too much. How can you believe such a person?
But L was my favorite character throughout the whole series nonetheless<3 (besides Ryuk, that is LOL)
I wonder how people can come up with such insanely creative characters. I mean, there is NOT A SINGLE manga character anywhere near similar to L. Everyone must agree.
Anyway- therefore, our ol' Matsuda-san, who fought for and dedicated his life (really?) to the solitary mission of arresting Kira as a detective, without being swayed by personal greed or money, is the true hero of this story.
Plus, I feel sorry for him for always being teased and laughed at LMAO aww...
Plus, Matsuda's ability to maintain good and not evil owes much to his stupidity LMAO awww...

That was my thougth on the 'justice' theme of Death Note.
As for the ending, I LOVED IT. Obata-sensei really is beyond amazing in perspective, angles, lighting, and stimulating emotion without words. Genius.
Like that page where Light dies (finally~ let's party!) and the next two pages are entirely black.
I was speechless, stilled, not able to turn the page or say anything or think anything but the word WOW.
I think I was smiling out of amazement, too lol Oh just how that simple, black pages can invoke such thrilling feelings!
And all the scenes leading up the that climax- the intensity, the vigorous anger and speed that just builds up and up and up and boom! released at the end.
I was like furiously flipping through the pages throughout the whole volume, as I tended to do for every volume of this crazy series lol

Also- Takeshi Obata is one of my favorite artists of all time. Her realism freaks me out.
The hands and other body parts in her drawings just look so REAL and natural, each box so well designed, movements fluid and vivid almost like an animation.
I love how she puts so much details into cars, buildings, phonebooth, and other everyday stuff we pass by on the street. She's the master of realism.

phew, that was long and fun.
I was writing without even like thinking hard, so this whole ramble may not make any sense at all LOL
I might have self-contradicted myself here and there, but that's ok because that's what i do for living. self-contradiction lmao

well, then, thanks for reading if anyone did read it! =D I think i might continue this sort of pointless obsession talks in the future hahaha
I mean, isn't that what this site is for? =) <3<3<3

I'll start by seriously listing and discussing things I tend to obsess over.
What category shall I begin with?? Oh well. Let's begin with manga first, since that's my longest prevailing obsession.

Here it goes!Collapse )

Ok, so after weeks of anonymously reading the many, fabulous writings on this site,
I have finally decided to make an LJ account. lmao!
I'm usually not very talented at keeping blog-like things updated, (that is, except for facebook, lol)
but i think i might actually be successful with this one- because, well. i like this one =)
and the genious writers i've seen here.

I guess the time is right for me to introduce myself, although i feel awkward writing this with no friends added to the list yet ;__;
So here's the- rather short explanation of me, and my life so far on this planet.

My name is Joy, a sophomore in highschool, residing here in the teeny weeny town of Millburn, New Jersey.
I'm not American; I immgrated right after graduating from elementry school in Korea, so it is about 4 years that i've lived in this foreign nation.
(which would well excuse my poor English skills lol)

Currently, I'm excessively, perhaps waaaayy too excessively, obsessed with the British band Muse.
They are the only band I've ever liked enough to go to their gigs, letting myself be scolded at my dearest mother, twice.
And I can see that happening a lot more times throughout the future.

I've been a freakishly crazy yaoi fan for so long.
I'm also a freakish manga fan, my favorite ones being Death Note, Wild Adapter, Fullmetal Alchemist, and much much more. etc etc etc!
In fact, as a dedicated art student looking forward to maybe going to art college, I create amateur manga myself,
as well as other mediums of art including traditional pencil drawings, charcoal, paintings, photography, and what not.

My favorite movies are Star Wars (excluding the second one which sucked in my opinion), the Lord of the Rings series, and - if you haven't noticed already from the title of my journal - Dead Poets Society.
I love movies that have either great story, great lighting and perspective that reveal the character's emotions without words, great music great enough to leave me speechless, great scenery, great actors, and/or *big grin* cute boys or yaoi-ish pairings in them.
I'd say the three movies I mentioned above qualify all these standards, especially the last one *bigger grin*

As for my religious/philosophical views- well. i'll say that I believe in the scientific laws of the Universe and that water cannot be turned into wine by hand or be walked on by human-like shaped beings, even with today's technology.
My favorite philosopher is Fredrich Nitche. Now you get what I mean.
I also believe in Darwin's theory of evolution, and in Matt Bellamy's theory of "us all coming from the sky."
I've been wondering lately if that's self-contradictory.

Ooh, forgot to tell ya- I own a twin sister. which.. many people envy and think is cool. It is cool in some ways, as much annoying as it is in other ways.

One more thing: I absolutely love the TV series House.
It is always amazing and awe-inspiring to see Hugh Laurie pull off the cynical character of House.
and, of course. Do I have to mention House/Wilson? *that old grin again*

So, there!
I think I rabbled too much for the very first entry. It was meant to be a 'short' introduction of myself lol!
But, much rabbling explains much about the person. therefore- mission accomplished.

NOW, let me actually look around this site and meet some people!
or more like, actually make myself known to those writers i've been stalking all this time! LMAO
